New Honeywell BMS is Saving Energy at The Whitby Hotel
The Whitby Hotel is a 90-room property within a 15-story building that boasts large warehouse-style windows. It is one of two Firmdale hotels in New York City and is located in upper midtown Manhattan on West 56th St. The building was in need of mechanical and controls help involving the installation of HVAC controls, chiller and boiler plans, and more than 200 fan coil units (FCUs).
We worked directly with architects from Stonehill Taylor and MEP personnel from Firmdale Hotels to furnish and install all new equipment throughout the building that would integrate with a Honeywell Niagara Control System BMS. We configured the BMS to save energy by keeping FCUs off until a guest checks in at the front desk. This simple automation helps reduce both costs and energy use in tandem with the more efficient heating and cooling systems.
